Wall removal for Houston homeowners
Open up the room you already have.
We take out the wall that is in the way, including the ones carrying weight, and leave a clean opening ready for whatever gets built next. We take care of permitting when the work requires it.
What people want opened up
Most of it starts with one wall in the wrong place
The kitchen into the living room
So whoever is cooking can see the rest of the house, and the light from one side reaches the other.
Two small rooms into one
A formal room nobody uses and a den that is too tight, turned into one room people actually sit in.
A dining room that joins the rest
The table stops being in its own box and becomes part of where the family already is.
How it goes
No guessing from a photo. No pressure to decide on the phone.
- 1
Tell us about the wall
A few details through the form. We reply and ask for photos of the room, the ceiling, and both ends of the wall.
- 2
We look at it in person
Whether a wall carries load is answered by looking at the structure, not by rules of thumb.
- 3
You get a clear scope
What the work involves, what is included, and what is not, before anything is scheduled. You decide from there.
- 4
The wall comes out
With permitting taken care of when the work requires it, and a clean opening left ready for whatever comes next.
Before you call anyone
Three things worth doing now
None of them commit you to anything.
- Do not open the wall to find out. Exploratory demolition on a wall that turns out to carry load is how a small project becomes a structural problem.
- Take photos. The room from a few angles, the ceiling, and both ends of the wall.
- Note what is above. One story or two, and whether there is a room, an attic, or a roof directly over the wall.
Straight answers
What people ask first
Short versions. The guides go further.
Can a load bearing wall be removed?
Usually, yes. A wall carrying weight is not a reason to give up on the idea. It changes what the work involves: the load above has to be supported while the wall comes out, and something has to take over that load permanently and carry it down to the foundation.
How do I know if my wall is load bearing?
Honestly, you probably cannot tell from inside the room. The common tests, like which way the joists run or whether the wall is in the middle of the house, shift the odds but do not settle it. Someone has to look at where the weight above actually goes.
Do I need a permit?
It depends on the work. The City of Houston publishes what it expects for structural changes to a home, and the guides link to it. When your work requires a permit, we take care of it.
What will it cost?
We do not publish prices, because an honest number depends on the house: how wide the opening is, what sits above it, and what runs inside the wall. Tell us about yours and we will tell you what we can see and what we need to look at in person.
Do you do the rest of the remodel too?
Our work is the structural opening. If you also want the room finished, we can talk about that once the structural scope is clear. It is your choice, never a condition of the work.
